CP10 is the volume floor of the African palm-olein market. It's what the high-volume, price-sensitive distributor in Lagos, Mombasa, or Abidjan is actually buying when they say 'palm olein, container quote.' The pain isn't choosing the grade — it's everything that goes wrong upstream when a broker bundles CP10 with a single-origin contract, an opaque payment schedule, and an inspection slot the broker chose. CP10 is generic enough that the only thing differentiating one quote from the next is the supplier's discipline: brand consistency on the jerry can, origin flexibility between Malaysia and Indonesia, and a fixed payment structure that protects both sides. The grade should be the easy part of the conversation; with most brokers, it isn't.
Cool-storage warehouses and Q1 winter conditions can take a perfectly good lot off-listing for cosmetic cloudiness.
A locked Malaysia or Indonesia contract leaves you carrying the full export-tax and currency-cycle risk of one country.
Brokers and re-packers consolidate lots — every container can have a different refiner CoA, even when the pack looks identical.

CP10 is RBD palm olein with cloud point at or below 10°C, iodine value at or above 58 (slightly higher than CP8), FFA below 0.10 percent, moisture and impurities below 0.10 percent, color 3R Lovibond max, peroxide value below 2.0 meq O2/kg, anisidine value below 5.0, smoke point at least 210°C, shelf life 12 months sealed. The slightly higher iodine value gives CP10 a touch more flexibility for blending into margarines and bakery shortenings — which matters to industrial buyers but is invisible to retail. In tropical-only distribution, where warehouse temperature stays above 15°C year-round, CP10 behaves identically to CP8 on the shelf at a small cost saving. The certification stack — Halal (JAKIM), ISO 22000, HACCP, RSPO, Kosher (on request), GMP — is the standard export envelope. Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, CIQ) is the buyer's choice and we co-ordinate at origin.
| CP10 | CP8 | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud point | <=10°C | <=8°C | Both fine in tropical Africa year-round. |
| Iodine value | >=58 | >=56 | CP10 slightly more unsaturated — small blend advantage. |
| FOB position | Lowest of the three grades, occasionally above CP8 by a hair | Reference middle | Origin spread can flip the order any given week. |
| Best fit | Tropical retail, industrial frying, blending | Mixed retail / HoReCa | CP10 dominates Lagos / Mombasa / Tema / Abidjan. |
| Risk in cool storage | Hazes below 10°C | Hazes below 8°C | Choose CP6 if any cool storage is in the chain. |
No black-box markup. The PI we issue carries the same four lines you see here, locked for the shipment week.
CP10 is usually the cheapest of the three but origin spread can flip it above CP8 some weeks.

Cheapest African route from Port Klang — 21 days.
Currency + line-rate + origin spread risk. Fixed in the PI.
Confirmed PI within 4 business hours of grade + packaging + port + volume.
Quoted weekly. Origin spread between Malaysia and Indonesia can flip the cheaper origin from one week to the next — we always quote the lower.

CP10 is the most-traded grade in the Africa palm-olein lane, which means it's also the most undifferentiated quote you'll see. We commit to one brand on the jerry can (Super Chef®), draw from Malaysia or Indonesia each shipment, take 30 percent advance and 70 percent against documents, and let you pick the inspector. That's the entire pitch — grade is the easy part; supplier discipline is what wins the re-order.
CP10 is the highest-volume cooking-oil specification crossing into West and East Africa each year.
Two 20-foot containers — about 50 MT — is our standard floor. Goes up smoothly to flexi tank.
We quote on the lower of Malaysia or Indonesia FOB each shipment week. Origin clause is fixed in the PI.
FOB pricing tracks the origin spread between Malaysia and Indonesia. Some weeks Malaysia's CP10 quote sits above Indonesia's CP8. We always quote the lower of the two origins for the grade you've asked for.
Identical. Both load at 25.4 MT per 20′ FCL with 5L jerry cans. The cost-per-MT difference comes purely from the FOB price line, not the freight or fill.
Yes — the slightly higher iodine value (>=58 vs >=56 for CP8) gives a touch more unsaturation, which margarine blenders sometimes prefer.
RBDPO (un-fractionated palm oil) sits around CP24+ and is significantly cheaper but it's not olein — it's solid at room temperature. CP10 is the floor for liquid frying oil.
Lagos and Mombasa distributors typically run 4–8 week order cycles depending on container availability and warehouse turnover.
Send your volume, packaging and discharge port. We issue CP10 PIs daily — origin Malaysia / Indonesia (seller's choice), 30/70 standard, SGS / Bureau Veritas inspection.
